Encore for Ethan
(Ethan's GoFundMe can be found here)
Monday night was a truly lights-out game against Seattle with an eventual Detroit win. It was an incredibly special night for so many reasons including hosting our newest hero, Ethan, at the game with his mom, brother, and girlfriend. Ethan is a member of the Michigan marching band among many other outstanding things. Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Throughout his battle, he has adopted the mantra:
BEAT THE ODDS AT ALL COSTS
Ethan has shown wicked resilience in the face of an opponent so fierce and we cannot express in words how profoundly he has inspired us. That's why Ethan is one of our amazing heroes.
It was a joy and an honor meeting Ethan and his family after the game where we talked, laughed, and discovered more about Ethan's battle and how he's overcoming it.
Ethan's Story:
20-year-old University of Michigan Marching Band drummer Ethan White was diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG) Brain Tumor in March 2024.
DMG is an aggressive childhood cancer that forms in different areas within the brain. It is extremely rare, inoperable, and difficult to treat.
Ethan is a snare drum player on the drum line of the Michigan marching band and hockey band, a psychology and pre-med major, a writer for his school paper, The Michigan Daily, and a HUGE sports fan.
He is known for his warmth, humor, positivity and kindness. Ethan has a tattoo on his forearm that reads “beat the odds at all costs” and it’s been his mantra through this fight.
Ethan understands and embodies his mantra wholeheartedly and lets it fuel him to keep pushing every single day. He is a true warrior.
We are cheering Ethan on with a standing ovation that could be heard from space... "Encore, encore, encore"
And we won't stop.
Please join in our applause as we help support Ethan through his battle and consider donating to his GoFundMe.
Thank you all for your resounding support of our heroes. It means so much to us and even more to them. We are so grateful.
Love always,
Team Hutch
