Meet Darrell
Meet our newest hero, Darrell! 14-year-old Darrell has an unbreakable spirit—when we walked into his hospital room we could feel it immediately. Darrell emits a sense of confidence and peace, a knowing that everything is going to work out in the end. A true winner's mentality.

Aidan walked into the last game of the Lions season carrying Darrell's mantra proudly, "Cancer can't beat a winner."
Darrell's Story:
Darrell was first diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) on July 12, 2024. He underwent five rounds of chemotherapy and spent 6.5 months in the hospital. In February 2025, his cancer went into remission, but unfortunately, the AML returned the day after Darrell’s 14th birthday on September 15.

He completed three rounds of intensive chemotherapy and received a bone marrow transplant on December 16, 2025. Today, Darrell is doing well following the transplant. While he has lost some weight, he has not lost his great attitude or positive outlook on life.

Darrell loves to play sports especially baseball and football and he’s also a big hockey fan. He enjoys being outside, hanging out with friends at the pool, and just being a teenager. Darrell also loves playing PS5, including Madden, NHL, and Fortnite. He has a huge heart for animals and hopes to become a zoologist if professional sports doesn’t work out. Darrell is such a great kid with a huge heart.
