Our Hero, Daxten

Heading into week three of the NFL season, we are feeling optimistic! We're excited to be back at Ford Field and to have another chance to show the world that famous Detroit grit.

We're even more excited to introduce our newest hero who has adopted that very same grit and tenacity throughout his journey overcoming osteosarcoma.

Meet Daxten Lawrence, a 13 year old who loves sports and his family. In fact, he has two older sisters—just like Aidan!

During a summer hospital visit, meeting Daxten, his mom, and his grandma was such a pleasant surprise. There was such a calm yet powerful energy in the room. They are some of the kindest and most caring people, yet filled with an unrelenting spirit.

As you can imagine, their number one prayer is for Daxten's health. Please keep Daxten and his family in your prayers and also kindly consider donating to their GoFundMe to help with medical expenses.

We knew exactly what we were walking into that day at the hospital the second we saw the words Daxten had taped to the outside of his door. "If you can take it, you can make it. Be unbroken."

Those very words set the tone for our visit. Daxten's fighting spirit was literally written on the wall. Even just looking into his eyes—you can tell there is a wildfire behind them. An unrelenting sense of motivation to win his battle.

Daxten knows exactly what it takes to be UNBROKEN.

So today, Aidan walked into Ford Field with Daxten's fiery spirit and very special words written on his water jug,

"A good mindset is everything."

In April of 2026, Daxten was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his ankle after thinking the pain was just from a minor basketball injury. The tumor was removed in late July and he’s still undergoing chemotherapy through the rest of the year.

Daxten enjoys playing basketball, running, cooking, riding roller coasters and collecting Pokémon and sports cards. He’s a big sports fan. You can find him rooting for U of M football, U of M basketball, and all the Detroit teams.

Daxten is proof that adopting an ironclad mindset is the key to overcoming adversity.... no matter how big. He fights with a smile on his face and continues to surprise everyone around him. He is unbroken. That's why he's our hero.
