Our Hero Brooke

It's that time of year again... the Detroit Lions are back and ready for another electric season! 

To kick off this year, we have a very special hero to introduce to you all. Her name is Brooke and she is the human equivalent of sunshine. Brooke is from Plymouth, MI and happens to live right down the street from us! We became familiar with her story before we had all officially met and it's safe to say we've found lifelong friends.

We had the pleasure of spending time with Brooke in the hospital shortly after her cancer relapse and subsequent amputation earlier this year. Over the time we've known her, we can say with confidence that we've never met someone so sweet, so accepting, and so incredibly fearless in the face of adversity.

Aidan walked into the Lions vs Saints game carrying Brooke's mantra front and center... Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Brooke's Story:

19-year-old Brooke is pure sunshine! No matter what, she always brings light to those around her. She loves sports, especially watching football and hockey. She also loves to read, travel and listen to music.

In August of 2023, she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma after thinking she had a knee injury from playing volleyball.

She was treated for 8 months at Mott, then relapsed in December 2025. She had an amputation in March 2026, along with surgery in June 2026 to remove tumors. She just finished chemo and radiation, and doctors are monitoring her for possible additional treatment or maintenance treatment.

She’s a big Harry Styles fan and sprinkles a general love of country music into her playlist. Brooke also inspires her family and friends with her unyielding faith! Jeremiah 29:11 is her favorite verse! “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
