"Goalies know no fear."
- Jacob Burbank
Aidan walked into the Detroit vs Dallas game just as he's walked into every other game: with a purpose. Aidan walked into that game with the fighting spirit of 16-year-old hockey player, Jacob Burbank, behind him.
Aidan met Jacob and his family at the hospital in February and they connected over all things sports and life. Throughout his journey battling cancer, Jacob has adopted the mantra GOALIES KNOW NO FEAR. He has shown true resilience. That's why Jacob is our hero.
Jacob's Story:
16-year-old Jacob Burbank was diagnosed with a germ cell tumor in December of 2023. In the Fall of 2024, the tumor relapsed as a sarcoma. Jacob has shown immense courage, enduring more than most people could ever imagine while still finding moments of joy and light.
At just 16, Jacob embodies the very best qualities—kindness, sweetness, and a spark of individuality that makes him truly unforgettable.
With a passion for hockey that runs deep, Jacob finds joy on the ice, where his dedication and sportsmanship shines brightly. Whether skating with teammates or cheering from the sidelines, he has an infectious energy and love for the game that reflects his vibrant spirit. Jacob loves the Detroit Red Wings, the Detroit Lions, his family and dogs, specifically Bella, his golden retriever.
Jacob is all things love, strength, and courage. He reminds us all to be kind, to pursue our passions fiercely, and to face life’s challenges with grace.

As many of you know, Aidan suffered a broken tibia at the Detroit vs Dallas game on Sunday. But it was in the wake of that tsunami that something truly spectacular happened: our heroes banded together to show Aidan their support by writing his name on a water jug.
Aidan has been unbelievably touched by this act of support and cannot express enough gratitude for our heroes.
A very special thank you and huge hug to the beautiful Kori Crosby at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital who helped coordinate such a beautiful surprise.
Jacob—and all of our incredible Hutch Heroes—are our why.
They are our inspiration. In the darkest of times, we are all called to adopt the courage, resilience, will, and humility that every single one of our heroes demonstrates on a daily basis.
Please keep our heroes, especially Jacob, in your thoughts and prayers and kindly consider donating to Jacob's GoFundMe.
Love always,
Team Hutch
