Jesse Strong
“You can't always control circumstances. However, you can always control your attitude, approach, and response."
- Tony Dungy, Quiet Strength:
Jesse is the perfect example of quiet strength. He has done what many people strive to do: look fear square in the face and answer with a smile... and probably with a hug, too.
We at Team Hutch have had the pleasure of hanging out with Jesse on two vastly different parts of his journey: early this year when he was in the thick of treatment at the hospital; and again over the summer at a golf outing when he was feeling so much better and had even regrown his hair!
He is the sweetest, gentlest soul. It has been incredible getting to know him and being able to cheer him on throughout his healing journey. Jesse has been such an inspiration to us this year. That's why he was our very special Hutch Hero for week two of football season: Detroit Lions vs the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Jesse's Story:
Jesse was originally diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in March of 2020. He was only 3 years old. He relapsed in June of 2023.
After a total of 8 bone marrow biopsies, over 25 rounds of radiation, 2 bone marrow transplants, and an unimaginable number of chemotherapies, Jesse is standing STRONG!
It has not been easy to get where we are today. We almost lost Jesse 3 times due to complications during treatment. It is nothing short of a miracle that Jesse is with us today. He is stronger than ever and turns 8 years old on September 20th.
Jesse is currently in remission after completion of his treatment just a few short weeks ago. He loves magic and performing magic tricks for patients, doctors, and everyone else in the hospital. He is a clever little one!
Jesse first met Aidan in February 2024 Mott Children's. Aidan was so impressed when Jesse showed off his muscles to him. It gave Jesse a greater sense of courage to keep fighting and get better.
Jesse is an incredible dancer and danced his way out of the hospital on the last day of treatment. He loves animals and has an amazingly big heart. And one thing is certain: Jesse is always there for you if you need a hug!
We want to take the time to thank all of our friends, families, doctors, nurses and all others that have helped us through this life challenge. All of the prayers sent did not go unanswered! We couldn’t have made it through this without all of your support! Thank you and we love you all!
Be strong like Jesse.
