Our Hero: Ryan
"Stay positive"
(Donate to Ryan's GoFundMe here.)
During this season of giving thanks, we are so grateful for every single one of our House of Hutch supporters. Your generosity helps kids with life-threatening illnesses we've met at the hospital and formed relationships with—our heroes.
Meet our newest hero, Ryan. What makes Ryan so special is his ability to remain positive through the toughest times. An ability that, for most of us, is easier said than done.
We met Ryan at the hospital this summer and his quiet confidence left a lasting impact on all of us, especially Aidan. Aidan described Ryan as "a leader by example."
Aidan carried Ryan's mantra into Ford Field for the Thanksgiving game in order to honor Ryan and his journey.
Ryan's Story:
18-year-old Ryan was diagnosed with AML acute myeloid lymphoma in June 2024 and shortly after met Aidan in the hospital.
Ryan just turned 18 on November 20 in the hospital and spent Thanksgiving in the hospital as well. He has been at Mott for more than 42 days on his fourth round of chemotherapy and has one more round after this.
Throughout treatment Ryan has always said “the best thing you can do is stay positive."
Ryan likes football, horses, loves working on the water and is looking forward to working on his truck when he gets home.

Ryan inspires us to have quiet confidence in all that we do—the highs and the lows. That's why he's our hero.
Love Always,
Team Hutch
